Dúfunefsfell, (“Dove nose mountain”) (727 m) a high tuff mountain by the northern boundaries of Kjölur. Flat wasteland south of the mountain is believed to be Dúfunefsskeið, mentioned in Landnámabók (“The Book of Settlements”) as the setting of the horse race between Þórir Dúfunef and the freed slave Örn.
