Hornafjarðarfljót

Hornafjarðarfljót, a big glacial river flowing mostly from Hoffellsjökull and emptying into Hornafjörður. Very wide but shallow, dividing into two main rivers: Austurfljót and Suðurfljót (“East and south rivers”). The bridge (225 m) built in 1961 was the second longest in the country until 1973.
