Kálfafellsstaður

Kálfafellsstaður, a group of farms, a church and parsonage, community centre. It is said that an old route used to go up from Kálfafellsstaður, through the valley Staðardalur and north across the Vatnajökull glacier. The birthplace of the writer Torfhildur Þ. Hólm (1845–1918), the first woman novelist in Iceland. Below the home field is a “sibyl’s grave” mound and they say that any person that attends to it will have good luck.
