Meðalland, the district between the river Kúðafljót on the west, the Landbrot district and the river Skaftá on the east and the Eldhraun lava field on the north. Extensive sands and gravel beds towards the sea and in the eastern section, other sections rather wet. Suffered great damage in the Skaftáreldar eruptions of 1783.There have been over 50 shipwrecks on the coast over the last 100 years. An old rescue hut by the sea has been renovated. It shines a light on the dramatic history of this coastline.
