Sleggjubeina, a small stream towards the west end of the Breiðavík bay, falling down the mountain Botnafjall into a deep, narrow, almost circular gorge, Rauðfeldargjá, which is near–invisible from the road.
It is possible to get quite far up the gorge once the snows have melted, though wellington boots and rainwear are recommended because of spray from the stream.
Though the gorge is so narrow, there is sufficient light from above.
On the eastern bank of the stream are the overgrown ruins of the farm Grímsstaðir, where the poet Sigurður Breiðfjörð (1798–1846) lived for a time.
