Borgarfjörður

Borgarfjörður, a short, wide fjord and a 10 km long, grassy, fertile valley of the same name.

Magnificent, colourful mountains, especially Dyrfjöll and Staðarfjall, of rhyolite and basalt. Numerous rare and beautiful stones, minerals and plants are found there. The stones can’t be collected unless with a permission from landowners.

There is a good birdwatching hut on the beach by the pier. Most Icelandic birds with beach habitats can be observed from a hut.

Beautiful walking routes.
