Places > East > Breiðamerkurfjall Breiðamerkurfjall Breiðamerkurfjall, (774 m) mountain on the western edge of Breiðamerkurjökull. In about 1700 the glaciers on both sides united in front of the mountain, and it remained a glacier island until 1946. Since then the glaciers have retreated.
