Breiðdalsheiði

Breiðdalsheiði, (470 m) a mountain road across the moor between Skriðdalur and Breiðdalur, steep at the Breiðdalur end. A small lake, Heiðarvatn, not far from the road, where trout has been introduced and seems to thrive well. Between the road and the lake is Tjarnarflöt, where legend has it the men of Vopnafjörður and Breiðdalur fought in the old days. Reindeer may be seen along the road on Breiðdalsheiði.
