Möðrudalsfjallgarðar, (750–950m) western and eastern, two mountain ranges of tuff, with steep sides, barren. Between them lies a flat plain, Geitasandur (“Goat sands”). Very good view from the western ridge across Möðrudalur and towards Vatnajökull and Ódáðahraun with the majestic Herðubreið, often called the queen of the northern mountains, in the middle.
