Grettislaug

Reykir, a farm on the Reykjaströnd shore, the farm to which Grettir swam from Drangey to fetch fire.

A semicircular point of land there is called Reykjadiskur, and on its southern side is the spring Grettislaug, where Grettir the strong bathed after swimming from Drangey.

Jón Eiríksson of Fagranes, known as the Earl of Drangey, has had the area of the spring rebuilt. He has also rebuilt a small boat harbour and fishermen’s dwelling as first steps in a programme to develop the area.

Boat trips to Drangey.
