Grundartangi, (on Rd. 506), a ferrosilicon plant belonging to the Icelandic Alloy Co. At the beginning 180 people were working in the plant. New aluminium plant commenced production 1998.
Now there are 12 companies operating in the area with over 1000 employees, most of them living in the capital area.
