Hörðudalur, southernmost valley in Dalasýsla, the river Hörðudalsá flows through it. The valley divides into Vífilsdalur and Laugardalur. There is not and never has been a church in this district, which is unusual, though there used to be small chapels. The local people have to go to church at Snóksdalur.
