Jökulsá á Sólheimasandi, a short but swift glacial river coming from the glacier Sólheimajökull. Also known as Fúlilækur (“Foul river”) on account of the strong sulphur smell. This river used to be a serious obstacle to travel. A bridge was built over it in 1921 and another in 1967.
