Langavatn

Langavatn, (“Long lake”) a lake, 5 km long and up to 36 m deep, formed by lava which has dammed the river at the Langá River end. Good fishing. Around the turn of last century the fishing rights belonged to that same French baron C.G. Boilleau that had a salmon canning factory at Hvítárvellir (see Road 53), and for whom the street Barónstígur in Reykjavík is named.
