Laugar, a small school and commerce community in the eastern part of the Þingeyjar region. A public school was built there in 1924 which is still running. The schools dorms are used as a hotel in summer.
Geothermal heat. The first indoor swimming pool in the country was built there in 1925. A new outdoor swimming pool with large hot tub was built in 2005.
