Ófeigsfjörður

Ófeigsfjörður, an abandoned farm on a fjord of the same name. Some of the richest land in Strandasýsla because of eider, seals and driftwood. The last shark–fishing from there was in 1915 on the boat Ófeigur, which is now preserved in the folk museum at Reykir in Hrútafjörður. Birthplace of the poet, scholar and painter Jón Guðmundsson (1574–1658) who was twice outlawed for sorcery.
