Skiphylur

Skiphylur, (“Ship’s pool”) a farm taking its name from a pool in Hítará now called Þangbrandshylur, where it is said the missionary Þangbrandur moored his boat after drifting into the mouth of Hítará when he came to Iceland in 997. Near this pool is the rock Klukkusteinn (“Bell rock”) which he used as a mooring. A bell–sounding echo is heard when this stone is struck with another stone.
