Strandarkirkja, (“Coast church”) a church in Selvogur, now the only remains of the once flourishing community Strönd (“Coast”), at one time the home of some of the richest and most powerful men in Iceland.
It is popularly believed that this church has a special power to aid success or good luck. Many gifts are therefore donated to it in connection with people’s hopes and fears.
It is one of the richest churches in the country.
