Ólafsvík, (pop. 1,010) a town forming part of Snæfellsbær Community. Good harbour. Main activities fishing and trading. As evidence of early business activity, there is still standing a warehouse dating from 1841, of distinctive architecture. It now houses a part of the Snæfell rural museum and a store. Jónshús, another old house that has been restored, occupies a prominent place in the town. Building materials for the original construction are believed to have been imported in 1892. Near the town is an impressive mountain, Enni.
